The matchup between the Wesson Cobras and the Loyd Star Hornets on Friday night proved to be a thrilling contest that kept fans on edge through the first half. Both teams traded scores until halftime, entering the break deadlocked at 19–19. However, the second half belonged to Wesson, as the Cobras surged ahead to secure a hard-fought 49–41 victory. The win extended Wesson’s streak over Loyd Star to seven consecutive games.

Wesson’s offensive firepower was on full display, led by standout performances from Damarion Smith and Wesley Loy. Smith delivered an exceptional showing with 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Loy added another 100 receiving yards to fuel the Cobras’ aerial attack.

For Loyd Star, the loss marked their first setback of the season, dropping their record to 6–1. Wesson, meanwhile, continued their undefeated run, improving to 7–0 and notching their fourth consecutive home victory.

Looking ahead, the Hornets will aim to bounce back when they face the Enterprise Yellowjackets on Friday at 7 p.m. With Enterprise’s defense allowing an average of nearly 36 points per game, Loyd Star will look to reignite their offense in a high-scoring matchup. Wesson, on the other hand, will travel to face Amite County. The Trojans’ defense has been one of the toughest in the region, giving up just 11 points per game, setting the stage for a true test of the Cobras’ offensive strength.
