Wesson Attendance Center (WAC) has been awarded a Southern Pine Electric Members Helping Members grant of $10,000 through The Pinebelt Foundation.

The grant will make it possible for WAC to build an outdoor classroom/shade structure on its elementary playground.

The new pole barn-style space will feature picnic tables and provide a place for students to learn and explore outside the traditional classroom — from hands-on science experiments to creative art projects and more.

This shaded area will not only support innovative learning experiences but also offer a cool, comfortable spot for the students to gather and grow.

The Southern Pine Electric and The Pinebelt Foundation investment in WAC students and supporting educational opportunities at WAC comes as a result of efforts by Susan Lee and Amanda Smith who dedicated their time to the details of pursuing the grant.
