Members of American Legion Post 79 and Auxiliary unit 79 participated in the annual Wesson patriotic parade held on September 11 to commemorate the heroic efforts and loving memory of all those affected by 9/11.

Local Legionnaires  led the parade carrying flags, followed by Legion Auxiliary members and Wesson Baptist Church Daycare students.

Children adorned their wagons, tricycles, etc with American flags, and according to Kim Whittington, auxiliary president, “Wesson was a sea of red, white, and blue.”

“I love living in a small town where traffic stops and our town is filled with parade watchers, and I especially love seeing all the children’s smiling faces,” said Janet Currie, auxiliary vice president.

The post’s auxiliary is currently planning for their November initiatives, Holiday Shoppe and Wreaths Across America. For more information, email Kim at kbueto@yahoo.com
