The Wesson Cobras will look to extend their winning streak and protect their undefeated record when they travel to face the Wilkinson County Wildcats in a Region 7-2A matchup at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23.

Wesson enters the regional contest with an 8-0 record after earning a 9-0 shutout victory over Amite County on Oct. 16. The win marked the Cobras’ eighth consecutive victory and demonstrated the strength of a defense that has helped keep Wesson unbeaten through the first eight games of the season.

The Cobras have been particularly effective in recent weeks, defeating Loyd Star 40-6, Enterprise 47-6, Lawrence County 34-0 and Amite County 9-0. Wesson also recorded a 26-0 victory over Lumberton earlier in the season.

Against Amite County, Wesson’s defense held the Trojans scoreless, with Jakaiden Johnson recording two interceptions. The defensive performance helped preserve the Cobras’ perfect record in a game in which points were difficult to come by.

Offensively, quarterback Wesley Loy completed eight of 16 passes for 101 yards. Laiken Thomas led the receiving effort with 54 yards, while BP Robbins rushed for 65 yards and scored a touchdown.

Wilkinson County presents another challenge as Wesson continues its Region 7-2A schedule. The regional matchup gives the Cobras an opportunity to build on their strong start and strengthen their position as the regular season moves toward its final stretch.

With their unbeaten record still intact, the Cobras will aim to carry their momentum into the road contest and continue building toward postseason play.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Wilkinson County in Woodville.
