Wesson Chamber of Commerce has started a weekly Farmer’s Market & Taco Tuesday.
The Chamber launched the ongoing event on Tuesday, September 30, and it will continue on Tuesdays at the concrete slab at the Lone Pine Shopping Center on Highway 51 at the south stoplight. The hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. During inclement weather, the event will move inside. Otherwise, it will be outside under the Mississippi sun.
While shopping for fresh produce brought by local farmers, visitors can munch on tacos and tamales prepared by Hispanic Heritage Kitchens and Jonas Hernandez from Beauregard.
Honey was sold at the first event by Broken House Farms and at the second event by Buffy Girls Farms. At the inaugural event, Patrick Kinkaid from Reservation Farms was the lone farmer offering mustard and turnip greens, okra and squash. At the second event, he brought along some tomatoes.
Chamber President Teri Bath says she is seeking more farmers for the Market, food vendors who complement the Taco Tuesday theme with Mexican specialties and arts and crafts vendors – all locals from Copiah County.
“We’ve started small and are looking to grow,” she says.
