Wesson Moves to 2-0 With Win Over North Pike

The Wesson Cobras continued their undefeated start to the season Friday night, defeating North Pike 29-14.

After opening the year with a dominant 41-0 victory over Bogue Chitto, Wesson faced a closer matchup in its second game but still came away with a 15-point victory.

Damarion Smith had a big night for the Cobras, finishing with 221 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Wesley Loy threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns, while Laiken Thomas added 61 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Wesson also found success defensively, finishing the game with four sacks and holding North Pike to 14 points.

The win moves Wesson to 2-0 on the season after the Cobras finished 10-1 and won the Class 2A Region 7 championship last year. Through two games this season, Wesson has outscored its opponents 70-14.

The Cobras travel to Franklin County Friday night looking to improve to 3-0 and continue their undefeated start.
