Wesson Butterbeans celebrate Earth Day

The Butterbeans, the youth gardeners of the Wesson Garden Club, celebrated Earth Day Wesson Public Library last months in conjunction with National Library Week.
Librarian Marilyn Britt lectured the group, discussing the historical context and significance of Earth Day.
This annual event, observed globally on April 22, supports environmental protection efforts, she said. Having first taken place in 1970, Earth Day has developed into a worldwide movement, with earthday.org coordinating events in over 193 countries and involving 1 billion people.
As part of the local celebration, each Butterbean members was given seedling tree from Neighborhood Forest to take home, plant and nurture.
The Butterbean concluded their Earth Day Celebration, enjoying snow cones from Park Place Concessions at the Wesson Park.
Wesson Garden Club is a member of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Natchez Trace District of GCM.
