Club leads Gardening Week celebration

Wesson Garden Club (WGC) helped the town participate in the celebration of National Garden Week last month.
National Garden week raises awareness of gardening and horticulture and encourages people to take pride in their community through gardening. National Garden Clubs, Inc., with local garden clubs throughout the U.S. sponsor events associated with the week-long celebration.
Wesson Garden Club's activities last month included:
Donation of two books to Wesson Public Library -- Time to Plant by James T. Farmer, III, and A Perfect Garden by Lucy London.
Floral arrangements for businesses. WGC members used flowers, unique wood pieces and greenery from their yards to create colorful floral arrangement for local business. They delivered 33 arrangements, which were displayed in recycled water bottles, carry-out boxes and bowls, to-go containers and glass jars to demonstrate the importance of recycling and protecting the environment.
Library gardening books display. The WGC education committee set up a gardening book display at Wesson Public Library.
New planters donation to library. WGC donated two container gardens to the Wesson Public Library to recognize its remodeling and grand reopening. The WGC container garden committee created them to sit by the front door to welcome library guests and visitors.
