Mallory Sanders was brilliant in the pitcher's circle on Tuesday, as Sanders threw a no-hitter to lead Wesson Cobras Varsity past Franklin County Lady Dawgs Varsity 10-1.
Wesson Cobras Varsity secured the victory thanks to six runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Kyla Smith and Lexie Freeman, a walk by Kayla Mckleven, and an error on a ball put in play by Marley Channel.
Wesson Cobras Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Smith singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Sanders was on the rubber for Wesson Cobras Varsity. The fireballer surrendered one run on zero hits over seven innings, striking out 14.
Karlee Wallace toed the rubber for Franklin County Lady Dawgs Varsity. The pitcher allowed ten hits and ten runs over seven innings, striking out three.
Wesson Cobras Varsity collected ten hits. Lexie Guess and Smith all managed multiple hits for Wesson Cobras Varsity. Guess went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Wesson Cobras Varsity in hits.
Sadye Scott went 0-for-2 at the plate as Scott led the team with one run batted in.
